Songs sung by different vocalists

#1 Post by Baby_Kürsch » 01 Aug 2010 09:55

I wasn't sure how to word the title of this post. What Im trying to say is. What is your favorite song (live or not) sung by a different singer.

I'd have to say the Ripper singing Dracula and the "new" Candlemass singer doing At The Gallows End.

I really liked it when Bruce Dickinson sang The Clansman.

The Ripper could actually sing "Painkiller" better than Halford! :D

Helloween's "I Want Out" was sung by a lot of Euro-Powermetal vocalists. Besides the original, I really like the one from Joacim Cans, Kai Hansen and Udo Dirkschneider (thats only one version).

Matt Barlow - Pure Evil (Original Singer: Gene Adams)

Do you mean also cover versions or just a different singer in the same band?

Yeah, especially the part where he forgets the vocals on the live DVD!

My contribution: Hansi singing Uriah Heep's 'The Wizard'.

Really? Shame on me, I didn't even notice that. Guess he didn't mess it up as hard as Edguy once did on german television: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm3M9M9AayA

Lol, no it's not that bad and he just about gets away with it, singing about weevils and whatnot. Second verse and other bits through the song.

Having seen Halford sing Painkiller twice in the last couple of years, forgetting the lyrics aside, I do actually think Ripper sings it better, especially these days.

Helloween's "How Many Tears" and "Victim of Fate" sung by Michael Kiske. I think he does it better than Kai did.

Horror Versions:

RONNIE JAMES DIO singing songs from the Ozzy-Era was terrible - those songs just did not fit.

Most horrible thing was PARANOID - that song in particular was not written for DIO

Not really a metal song, but "Breathe in Water", originally sung by Anggun. The version of Indigo Dying together with Michael Kiske is much better! Love that song.

Now let the play begin!
