fiddler is, in my opinion, the song that i can listen to anywhere, anytime, and that almost everyone can appreciate (even those not-so-highly-held-blind guardian haters)

but, path to glory is my second favorite....except for when he misses the high note, or seems like it. every time i laugh

"and when i cry, it's [dry] inside
and when i laugh it's tears i hide...
endless stairs
a guiding light
what once was warm but now it's bitter cold
it's freezing hearts
it's freezing souls
soon icy shades would cover all
it pretends to be alive
be alive
be [your life]"

true. the whole song seems to be about me - and about how i'm getting older and losing my world, music, people, things and games and fantasies, and my "belief in miracles" or i dont know how to name it properly. i really felt then "dry and empty" inside (i know these are not the exact words of the song, i just post them the way i interpret them in correspondence to my own feelings) i love the way this part "endless stars...it pretends to be alive" is sang or whispered?) Anyway, the song is great and it inspired me to draw a picture. it's the first song which i admired from this album, and after a few weeks i started admiring the rest of the songs. they are great.

There are too many.. Maybe I will choose Blood On My Hands, but The Fiddler, My Last Sunrise and Poor Man's Crusade are just as good.. And I love the rest too!

Love HD, love the ending "trio" (Tear Down the Wall, Gallows n Sunrise), love Path of Glory, but...

...Fiddler STILL reigns supreme :D

I mean, as you listen, it keeps evolving, like a story, until it hits the "Take my hand" climax, from which it proceeds to completely obliterate any sort of sanity that you still posses. :D

This.song.KILLS. And i'm not afraid to say that it still manages to bring tears sometimes to my eyes sometimes, even after having listened to it more times than i can count.

WTF? My Last Sunrise takes Fiddler on the Green and bends it over a table.

makes me think of lesbian porn

Either way, When they bend eachother over, it's hot and a good thing

But those are definately my favourite two songs on the first album.

Heaven Denies is my favourite.

The part of the chorus where he shouts "Oh I've made up my mind, and oblivion shall reign through the night!" is fantastic.

I'm split here...my favorites are:
Fiddler on the Green - for the simply outstanding tune and the singing, as well as the lyrics, and was the first song I heard by them
My Last Sunrise - for the amazing vocals and the awesome lyrics (and a cool tune, o' course)

These aside, the entire album is my favorite song :D

Fiddler is an amazing song I won't lie

But I'm torn between it and my last sunrise
Perfect outtro for this album

The hear no, see No, touch no evil chanting thing really stands out to me

Like I said in another thread
This is easily one of my favorite cds

LOVE'S TRAGEDY ASUNDER!!!

#75 Post by BlackGuardian » 18 Feb 2009 06:02

"Fiddler on the Green" is the mainstream answer. While great, I still like "Gallows Pole" just a tad better. I voted for it.

Now, seeing as how this post/poll was started before Touched By the Crimson King came out, it needs updating...would like to see the updated results. Too bad we can't combine an old and a new poll.

Because "Love's Tragedy Asunder" stomps Fiddler's arse — and barely beats "Gallows Pole".

It would have to be a different poll, since there can only be ten options.

Hard to choose between Poor man's Crusade, Tear Down The Wall, Gallow's Pole and The Whistler.

Voted The Whistler. The lyrical theme is simply brilliant and the song has such wicked and twisted parts
What started in the underworld,
It should be finished here and now.
