Coming out on October 15, they're certainly fast.

It's not known yet, but one of the big shots on the Rhapsody forum said more details will be made public soon. One guy who said he had reliable information, said it would last 35 minutes.

How many songs containing the word 'of' do you suppose they have this time?

They're already at 1.

As much as possible of course. There's also a little rumour about the mini album consisting of only one track, but I certainly hope it will not. Or if so, that it will be divided in sections, like Rhymes of a Tragic Poem on RoaTF.

Fear's Cold Embrace just doesn't sound like a Rhapsody song though.

It does need to sound a lot camper. Something about valleys, rivers and gnomes.

News from the official website:

Quote:
RHAPSODY OF FIRE – TO RELEASE AN EPIC 35-MINUTES SYMPHONY!

RHAPSODY OF FIRE are going to release an epic monument called: „The Cold Embrace Of Fear – A Dark Romantic Symphony“. „For this special CD we composed a unique song of around 35 minutes divided in 7 „acts“. Looking at the title you can easily imagine that such long and epic song will show the most cinematic and orchestral side of our band, all our passion for the world of cinema we love so much and that always represented our main influence while composing the RHAPSODY’s music“, says Luca Turilli and adds: „Essentially it is a long huge song, sounding very symphonic, full of orchestral sections very soundtrack oriented, narrations and spoken parts. More than in other cases we tried to create a real movie atmosphere with very dynamic musical results, also thanks to the help of the English actors that gave voice to different charachters. You will just need to close your eyes and explore those new emotional dimensions we wrote the music for.“ The lyrics of this monumental, epic symphony are based on the „dark secret saga“ and represents a new chapter, directly connected with „The Frozen Tears Of Angels“.

Luca explains: „After the long journey to the icy frozen northlands at the borders of the known world, while facing concrete natural obstacles and the inner demons lying in the depths of their conscience, the five main charachters reach the ancient gothic fortress of Har-Kuun, a real monument of evil trapped between ice and snow, the mystic place where the Erian’s book could be finally found. „The Cold Embrace Of Fear“ tells about the entrance of those bravehearts in the ancestral world of Har-Kuun and the dramatic search for the holy book of the angels, only possible way to understand something more about the dark secret threatening the whole known world. Also in this case I liked to create particular „bridges“ connecting the new chapter of the saga with our modern life on the basis of symbolism, ancient wisdom and spiritual evolution. To someone who knows something about modern psychology and the study of the different „self“, the hidden geometries and gothic labyrinths of Har-Kuun will reveal themselves very clearly.“ Once again Christopher Lee was chosen for the spoken parts as a main narrator. „We couldn’t imagine to release something like this without his fundamental partecipation. Sir Lee is one member of the RHAPSODY OF FIRE‘s family since a lot of time and we love him not only as an actor but also for the man he is. Because of his great and majestic personality he has surely the aura of a king of the ancient times".

This extraordinary release, will hit the stores on October 15th for a special price.

I love their official statements. And it's as I was hoping for, one song divided in several parts, like Rhymes of a Tragic Poem.

Fix'd. I will be amazed if Joey DeMaio had no input on this at all.

Your fix iss completely redundant. Just take a look at the RoaTF tracklist:

* Rain of a Thousand Flames - 3:43
* Deadly Omen - 1:48
* Queen of the Dark Horizons - 13:42

Rhymes of a Tragic Poem - The Gothic Saga
* Tears of a Dying Angel - 6:22
* Elnor's Magic Valley - 1:40
* The Poem's Evil Page - 4:04
* The Wizard's Last Rhymes - 10:37

That means the last 4 songs actually make one song.

When was RoaTF released? 2001
When did Rhapsody sign with MCM? Not before 2003

So, there's no reason to think that they copied Manowar in this. By the way, there's plenty of bands that do the same thing.

For whatever reason that single rolling-eyes icon made me laugh so hard :lol: :lol:

Nice cover art, anyway, but I can't imagine myself interested in this...

The way I remembered it those four songs were four different tracks; with the four of them being bracketed because Luca wrote the lyrics during the same acid-trip, or something like that.

And prog bands have been putting out long songs before. A Change Of Seasons by DT comes to mind, I wouldn't be surprised if Rush did it too and Genesis did in 1974 (on the Foxtrot album there was a song which hogged the entire b-side of the album).

I like the cover art. I thought The Frozen Tears of Angels kind of sucked, but I am willing to give this one a shot. It sounds like it could be good.

Luca Turilli, "Essentially it is a long huge song, sounding very symphonic, full of orchestral sections very soundtrack oriented, narrations and spoken parts."

I love the idea of an epic length piece from Rhapsody, but I really, really, REALLY wish they would abandon the narration and spoken word thing already.

How do you say 'lame' in Italian? :wink:

By hiring Christopher Lee and an orchestra.

Yes. But that's because Christopher Lee could read a dictionary out loud, and it would still sound like a Rhapsody-song.

I discovered Rhapsody's songtitles are much more funny when you emphasize the word 'of' (kinda like Chandler does in Friends).

the cold embrace OF fear.
dawn OF victory
symphony OF enchanted lands

etc.

Yeah, Rush did it several times. The Fountain of Lamneth in '75, 2112 in '76, and Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres in '78 all took up an entire side, and were arranged into sections (albeit on one track). There was also Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull in '72 that took up both sides of the album.
