I went to Madrid show last Friday and what an amazing show :headbang:

The band was on fire and the audience was great. Hansi talked a lot with the audience and sang really great and the rest of the band was very happy.

It was a perfect night for me since I asked them (on facebook) to play Majesty (One of my favs never seen live and was only played for the second time in this tour) and Wheel of Time.

Wheel of Time was a great journey I tell you. What an amazing song live.

Another great concert from this guys. BG never fails, never disapoints.

Yes, on both. At the back of the t-shirt is written "At The Edge Of Time" and on the jacket is "Sacred Worlds And Songs Divine". I really love them. Both look great.

Problem is that I'm not really a fan of this album's motif. I think the whole pyramid thing is pretty silly, and the shirt designs I've seen so far seem excessively cheesy.

Wow, BG really does have the best gear! ^__^

I'm so stoked to go to the Chicago, IL show! BG only comes to the 'States for one tour every handful of years.

I would post last night's setlist from Worcester but you guys can see it at setlist.fm.

So this was my first BG show. Like an idiot, i had a ticket for the 06 show but didn't go...really severe weather in Mass and Maine (where I live, over 2 hours from the worcester venue) kept me at home. I've regretted it ever since. Seriously.

Last night, about two songs into the show, I regretted it even more. AMAZING performance. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Maybe my favorite metal show of this year, which included Opeth's 20th Anniversary show in nyc, Maiden and Dream Theater in NYC, and an incredible Mastodon club show here in Maine. For perspective, last night was my 779th concert since December '75....and I'll be 50 next year. So to be as completely blown away as I was gives you some idea of just how amazing i thought the show was.

Hansi was just...superb. The highs, the lows, the throaty tenor, the occasional gutteral screams...his range was fabulous. His onstage banter was hilarious. After we chanted Majesty and got them to play it (at first, after a long chant, Hansi paused and said "....no....") he said "ok, now you've made us miss our train to Canada." (I was thrilled a little crowd action got us a full 16 songs...I'm sure Majesty wasn't on the setlist...) The guitar parts were all fantastic.

Great to finally see them in such a tiny place. Would love to see a big stage show with the videos (love the stuff i've seen from earlier in the tour) but the tradeoff of being RIGHT THERE, with the band in your face...priceless. Funnily, there must have been a lighting glitch right when the band took the stage for Sacred Worlds...the first two/thirds of the tune was played in the dark, with roadies holding flashlights. I thought it was a planned part of the show because the drama when the lights went on was startling. Once i saw the band look up at the grid and laugh, i realized it was a tech issue. But all was well eventually. After Welcome to Dying Hansi said "now that the lights are working, we should do the first song again for you...but that wouldn't make much sense..."

I've seen over 500 bands since the mid 70s, but this was UP THERE. worth every penny i spent on gas and every minute of the drive. It was 2 am when i woke up the dogs and my wife, but again, worth it all.

I really don't wanna wait four years for another BG show! ;-)

Great review Mitchgo! Took all the words out of my mouth.

It was my third time seeing them in MA and they did not disappoint. Hansi was the best I've ever seen him singing and bantering  .

And I thought he said "something something Panama..." but thanks for clearing up that he said Canada LOL!

Majesty was a welcome treat!

The setlist from setlist.fm doesn't jive 100% with the setlist order (songs 6-8) of this pic taken from ReturntothePit.com :
http://returntothepit.com/pictures.php?id=741129
but it doesn't really matter much cause it was such a great show!

btw if anyone cares, the showtime was 9:50-11:40. EPIC. ;-)

Last night at Worcester was magic. It was my first BG concert and the Energy was amazing.

Of course today I've been in a complete lull from lack of sleep, it was a long drive back.

Totally worth it, of Course

Saw them for the 3rd time in Worchester last night, and I can say without a doubt it was the best set of the three I've seen. I'll always remember the first one as a special experience but last night was just terrific. The crowd seemed really into it, and BG was fucking superb. Tight as always, and Hansi's voice seemed in terrific shape. Also good to see him in what looked like a little better shape physically; he looked like he was putting on a little weight four years ago.

From the posts here and my personal experience (this year in Milan) Hansi seems in absolutely top shape. It was really difficult to go back to listening to studio version after all the energy of the live songs. This band rules!

I am always happy to meet fellow discerning music fans, especially ones from Vacationland. and hey, with the US these days, we'v'e been discussing some exile ourselves in our future, so maybe you'll let me pick your brain someday!

After Worcester, I think I may need some kind of therapy. I can't stop listening to Guardian...my wife is getting irked....you know she's heard too much BG this week when I put on some Symphony X and she seemed visibly relieved....

Went to the Montreal gig last night and it was absolutely epic (despite the opening bands being terrible). Hansi was in great shape. Also they played And Then There Was Silence!!! I almost died of joy.

The setlist:

Sacred Worlds
Welcome To Dying
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
Fly
Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill)
Traveller in Time
Turn The Page (that was a pleasant surprise)
Lord of The Rings
A Voice in The Dark
And Then There Was Silence (orgasm)

Wheel of Time
The Bard's Song (in The Forest)
Valhalla
Majesty
Mirror, Mirror

Also hi, I'm new here and things.

Don't remember the whole setlist, the special song for Royal Oak was "Ashes to Ashes" and in the encore, Hansi announced Valkyries, and a few people were really surprised, so he was like "Would you rather have Valhalla?" and everyone cheered, and he asked "Was that a yes?" and then walks over to Marcus, and then goes back, says "Marcus thinks that was a no!" some people booed or whatever, and Hansi turned and said "See how they hate you?"

then they played Valhalla.

This is exactly why they don't seem to play new songs or old ones that were rarely played, people would rage over their Valhalla not being played or whatever other too many times played song.

I find it exceedingly lame that they are only playing 15 songs per show in the US, when they were doing 17 by the last leg of the European tour. We're getting gypped.

Just got back from the Minnesota show, my first BG show ever. It was BEYOND AMAZING!!!!

Into The Storm
Welcome to Dying
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
Fly
Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)
Bright Eyes
Banish from Sanctuary
Lord of the Rings
A Voice in the Dark
Imaginations From The Other Side
---
Sacred Worlds
The Bard's Song - In the Forest
Valhalla
Mirror Mirror

I'm pretty certain that's correct, but please let me know if I'm wrong.

Hansi said there was some sort of handicap so they had to drop the 2 longer that they did at the Chicago show. Still, it was my first BG show ever and I didn't care. WOW! WOW! WOW!

This was my 3rd time seeing them in MN and they never disappoint. It was a great setlist, but I missed hearing WoT. I heard Hansi say that about the handicap too but I'm not sure what it was. Did it sound like Hansi's voice was going out? Anyway, it was great hearing A Voice in the Dark live!

Here's what I can remember of the Winnipeg setlist - some may be out of order, or just outright wrong. I have a terrible memory, and for that I apologize.

War of Wrath
Into The Storm
Welcome to Dying
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
Fly
Time Stands Still (at the Iron Hill)
Bright Eyes
Banish from Sanctuary
Lord of the Rings
A Voice in the Dark
And The Story Ends
---
Wheel of Time
The Bard's Song - In the Forest
Valhalla
Mirror Mirror

I feel like I'm missing something though. Can someone confirm?
Hansi declined to play Majesty when the crowd shouted for it... said he didn't think it would be a good idea :)
It was also the shortest break between the end of the set and the encore I've ever seen at any show - less than a minute, maybe thirty seconds, before the Wheel of Time intro kicked in. It was a good crowd.

No Sacred Worlds?! What's with this starting with WoW/ItS again? Hell no! If I do not hear Sacred Worlds, there will be much disappointment on my part. One of their best songs for sure.

Not in Winnipeg, anyway, but it's been played at a bunch of other venues. My guess is since this was the first time they played in Winnipeg, they wanted to play older material. They only played 3 songs total from the last 2 albums (Fly, Wheel of Time, Voice in the Dark). I have no problem with the setlist they played. There's a couple of songs that I'd liked to have heard (And Then There Was Silence, Sacred Worlds, Imaginations) but I don't know what I'd take out. I was a little surprised that there was nothing from Somewhere Far Beyond (other than The Bard's Song).

As for starting with Into the Storm, I was pretty happy with that. Nightfall (the album) is probably my favourite, and pretty much got me into metal.

I heard Hansi say that about the handicap too but I'm not sure what it was. Did it sound like Hansi's voice was going out? Anyway, it was great hearing A Voice in the Dark live!
I heard him say the handicap thing too, and I can only assume it was his voice. He sounded so hoarse, even when he was just talking...poor guy. For his voice going out though, he still did an AMAZING job! I thought this was a better concert than when they came four years ago...except for the fact that they didn't play ATTWS, but hey, you can't win them all!
I hear Hansi's voice when angels sing...

Based on what I'm seeing here, I'm not happy that they're practically ignoring 'Somewhere Far Beyond'. That's my favorite album of all time, and while 'The Bard's Song - In the Forest' is great, I could really use 'Journey Through the Dark', 'Ashes to Ashes', or (especially) 'Somewhere Far Beyond'. Looks like they've played 'Time What Is Time' a few times this tour, and I hope they play it in Atlanta.

On the other hand, I'm really happy that 'Tales from the Twilight World' is getting some attention. When I saw them on the last tour, they didn't play a single song from it! I was disappointed in that.

However it may be, though, I'm expecting a totally kick-ass show.

In Asheville, NC last night they started off with SW. Going from memory now I know they played Valhalla, Nightfall, Mirror Mirror, ATTWS, WoT, My Requiem, Fly, Bard's song, VITD, Time Stands Still, Majesty, Cry For Tanelorn...I have the set list I peeled off Andre's monitor but a, too sore & tired to get it out of the luggage.

They were AMAZING!

In Atlanta tonight, the setlist was (as well as I remember, and not necessarily in order):

Sacred Worlds
Welcome to Dying
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
Fly
Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)
Lord of the Rings
Tanelorn (Into the Void)
Into the Storm
This Will Never End
And Then There Was Silence

encore:

Wheel of Time
The Bard's Song - In the Forest
Valhalla
Mirror Mirror

So, despite 'Somewhere Far Beyond' getting short shrift (and also 'Imaginations from the Other Side', but they played like half the album last time I saw them), and 'Battalions of Fear' getting ignored entirely, this was still the best show I've ever been to. And I even got to meet Andre and Hansi!

My daughter, nephew & I are sooo looking forward to the sold out show tomorrow night in Virginia!!!
Never been to JAXX, but understand it's standing room only - my back is gonna hate me by the end of the night, but oh well. ;)

This is part of my daughter, Caitlin's birthday present (she's a Christmas baby) and has been dying to see BG for years!
If Marcus (or anyone in or close to the band) is reading this, I'd have 1 request: play "Curse of Fëanor" Wednesday night for her birthday!

Hey! First time poster...

I just wanted to say that I've been waiting to see Blind Guardian for almost 10 years now. Now that they're coming relatively close to where I live, I'm incredibly excited! I'll be attending the Jaxx show in VA and I'm more than likely going to right up front the entire time. I hope this show is going to be awesome because its the last one for their North American tour. I'm hoping for an awesome encore!

Here's the Raleigh, NC setlist:

Sacred
Welcome to Dying
Born in a Mourning Hall
Nightfall
Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)
Fly
Lord of the Rings
This Will Never End
A Voice in the Dark
Imaginations From the Other Side

Encore:

Wheel of Time
The Bard's Song
Majesty
Mirror Mirror

I think I have "Time.." in the wrong place however...

Outstanding concert. Haven't had that much fun and excitement in a long time. Plus I was mere inches from Marcus and right next to the amp. Heard every single note. :)
