Give it a few more spins, it's the kind of song that needs multiple listens to get into.

As for the album, can I give it 15/10? :D

Isn't it about a year to early to be judging a BG album? And if someone puts up a favorite album poll soon...

TBH the songs that I like the less are the ballads so far. Valkyries is a good song. The chorus is great and reminds me at times of D&W

Funny really, not even officially released and leaked on terrible quality and people are going to put a poll up already?

Opinions change too much initially. People need to to accustom themselves to the new songs if they are going to judge them properly. For instance, the last poll had many more votes for ANatO than the one before.

Hello, im new in these forums, and i have been listening BG from IFTOS... 5 or 6 live shows, my favourite band with Kamelot, no doubt.

Well, yesterday i got ATEOT, and what to say? Its a great release. Im not kind of guy that hear a disc from beginning to end, my first hearing is usually just pieces of all songs... I make a filter of 3 - 4 songs, and i begin to hearing those songs. Then i take another one, and add it in the loop, studying it, enjoying it, until i have heard all LP, and then, yes, i press play and forget all playlist....

Ok, which are these first songs that i have taken?

-Cursed Worlds. I knew it, i liked it. A good song, not excellent, but in this version takes more strength. 7.5/10
-Tanelorn. Fast, a nice live piece. Somebody says FTB? 8/10
-Ride into Obsession. Great, faster, melodic, one of the best pieces of this LP. 9/10
-Control The Divine. Different, this song is like a progression from 2 last records, but melody is easy to diggest, and its really well built, i loved it. 8/10.
-War of the thrones. No matter piano or acoustic version, these songs are great, and i became addicted long time ago to Blind Guardian for these type of tracks. This is no different! 8/10
-A voice in the dark . Instant classic. I cant wait to sing this in live :). 9/10

And for the others... well i didnt hear a lot, but Valkyries and Road of no Release, well, they didnt catch me. I have to give them an opportunity.
Curse my name sounds great... but still not in the loop . Patience. And well, Wheel of Time, i was overhyped, and song is great, but i have parked it for now.

As soon, as i make more hearings of all LP, ill let you know, but i think this album is one of the best of BG, no doubt. Catchy, complex, melodic, prog, epic, and, i guess its the more important thing, diverse.

Got the CD a couple of days ago and after several listenings I'm starting to get the proper feel for it. BG is generally complex enough that an opinion after 1-2 listenings is pretty pointless.

The album certainly looks like it can take a place up there with what I previously thought were the three greatest BG albums; NIME, ANATO and IFTOS. It's certainly heading in that direction, for what it's worth at this time. The album is really diverse so it seems to have something for every mood and I'm quite sure every song will at some point be my favorite of the album, just as it's been with the previously mentioned albums.

I don't think I can rank all the songs but right now I'm probably the most pleased with Wheel of Time.

4/5 from me.

Not as well composed as ATitM IMO, but far better produced, and I vastly prefer Hansi's vocals here (he sounded like a Banshee on ATitM). Overall, I'd put this above ATitM, but slightly below ANatO (mainly because nothing on this album compares to And Then There Was Silence).

Previously I had said this album reminds me or cross between ANatO and SFB. I'd swap out SFB for IftOS now.

The best thing about this album is the sheer variety. No album since NiME has had anything near this amount of variation. And it probably beats even that.

After more listens, I may upgrade this to 5/5 (which I would give SFB, NiME and ANatO). We'll see.

Oh, and Valkyries was one of my favorite tracks

5, easily, probably the best BG album for me. Currently blaring it through the speakers giving the neighbours some proper music :D

My neighbours woke me up on on sunday with some crappy 90s pop music. For I have a quite mighty stereo, I introduced them to Ride Into Obsession at I-don't-know-how-many-db.

4 stars, 'cos I only heard it once so far ( arrived today, and so did some books I wanted, and BG is not good background music ).

Also, I think they owe my neighbours an apology. It is impossible - IMPOSSIBLE - to play this album at less than full volume.
